LEWIS

Charles Edward Lewis, 28, entered his eternal rest Sunday, June 30, 2013.

The third of four children, he was born in Bogalusa on Jan. 13, 1985, to Carrie Morris Lewis and Willie Jay Lewis Sr. He attended Byrd Elementary School, Long Avenue Elementary, Bogalusa Junior High, and Thomas Junior High, and graduated from Pine High School. He enjoyed fellowshipping at church, playing basketball and football, video gaming and skating.

Charles was a hard worker and faithful member of Greater Salter Chapel A.M.E. Church in Bogalusa. He served as the secretary of the youth Sunday school and a volunteer cook for the youth ministries. He diligently served as YPDer, usher, drill team member and choir member as needed.

Left to cherish and celebrate his life are his mother, Carrie Morris Lewis; his foster parents, Diane and Percy Brock; one brother, Willie Jay Lewis Jr.; two sisters, Victoria Denise and Michelle Lewis; a nephew, Carson Turner; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, church family and friends.

His father, Willie Jay Lewis Sr., preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 6 at Greater Salter Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 920 Dan St. in Bogalusa, from 9-11 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following the visitation. The Rev. Keith Sanders will officiate.

Repast will be held at the Greater Salter Chapel A.M.E. Hall following the funeral service.
