Piano recital held May 31 at ESM United Methodist Church

The piano students of Jo Al Holcomb were in the spotlight at their spring recital, held on Friday, May 31, at Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church in Bogalusa.

Fourteen students were on the program, performing an eclectic mix of music including children’s favorites, religious songs and more modern fare by the Beatles.

First up was Mason Foreman, performing “First March,” “Balloon Man,” “Three Little Pigs and Lambs” and “Old MacDonald.”

Gillian Gable performed “Angel of Music” and “Phantom of the Opera.”

Lennice Gambino performed “Celito Lindo” and “Lavender Blue.” She also performed a duet with Holcomb, “White Water Whispers Duet.”

Next Doug Herrington played “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “Let the World Go By.”

Playing songs from the Beatles was Ellen Herrington, including “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be,” and “Someone Like You” by Adele.

Presleigh Loper’s selections included “Backyard Bell,” “Express Train,” “Stepping Up and Down” and “Caterpillar Crawl.”

“Aura Lea,” “I’m a Little Teapot” and “Skip to My Lou” were performed by Sarah Jane Lyons.

Kim Miller performed “Come Thou Almighty King,” “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” and “God’s Watching Over Us.”

“When the Saints Go Marching In” and “Easter Hymn Medley” were the songs performed by Nicolas Miller.

Al Raines played “The Rose,” “Wonderful Tonight” and “Laura Theme.”

“Two Waltzing Elephants” and “Singing With the Rain” were the songs chosen by Seth Schilling.

Sydney Schilling played “Bugle Call” and “Pop Goes the Weasel Melody.”

Marion Scott ended the program with “Ode to Joy,” “Rock Group,” “Cops ‘n Robbers” and a duet with Mitou, “Dixie Doodle Duet.”
