JONES

Edith Corkern Jones, 80, died at 8:55 p.m. Sunday June 9, 2013, at her home in Isabel. Born July 25, 1932, she was a lifelong member of Talley’s Chapel Pentecostal Church in Sun and loved gardening. She was retired from the Washington Parish School Board after many years as a custodian at Enon School. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her entire family and to all who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Joyce Black of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Golda Lee Miley Yancey of Boyce; three sons, Roy Andrew Miley, Clinton A. Miley Sr. and Milton Roy Miley, all of Bogalusa; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Tadlock of Bogalusa, Dorothy Wooley of Florida and Golda Johnson of Franklinton; two brothers, Troy B. Corkern of Covington and George Hollis Corkern of Sandy Hook, Miss.; and numerous stepchildren, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Roy Lee Miley, Idore Ezell and John D. Jones; a daughter, Doris Rae Wells; an infant daughter; her parents, George Lester Corkern and Martha Ellen Galloway Corkern; two grandchildren, Vickie Wells and Glenn Rester Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Wells; four sisters, Cleo Corkern, Nellie Spencer, Theresa Corkern and Karreen Corkern; and three brothers, Lester Laverne Corkern, J. Willard Corkern and Thurston Corkern.

Visitation was held Monday, June 10, at Crain Funeral Home from 6-10 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Leon Hickman, the Rev. Randy Magee and the Rev. Chad Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the Isabel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donnie Wells, Michael Wiley, Wayne Corkern, Mathew Welch, Mitch Welch and Clinton Miley Jr.
