Vertice Elizabeth Sumrall Stafford, 97, a resident of Bogalusa born May 23, 1916 in Marion County, Miss., passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at New Country Living in Carriere, Miss.

She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Louise Stafford Harvey and Donna Elline Stafford (Bill) Wilson; one sister, Virginia Sumrall McKenzie; one brother, Johnny Lloyd (Beth) Sumrall; a sister-in-law, Verbie Sumrall; five grandchildren, McWayne Harvey, Belinda Ikerd, Trina Granger, Brian Wilson and Tanya Wilson Hancock; eight great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donice Eli Stafford; her parents, Johnny Eugene Sumrall and Aletha Smith Sumrall; and three brothers, Laverne Sumrall, Haskel Sumrall and Myrl Sumrall.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 29 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until time for the funeral service will at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tommy Varnado will officiate with interment to follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
