Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30 will be accepted for kindergarten at the Bogalusa City Schools upcoming registration. In addition to the age requirement, children must have received his or her 4-year shots before they can be enrolled. The parent must bring to registration a copy of the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card and updated immunization record.

The Bogalusa Health Unit administers shots to UNINSURED CHILDREN ONLY on Tuesdays, from 8-11 a.m. by appointment.

Registration will be held at the Bogalusa School Board Office, 1705 Sullivan Drive, from 8:30 -11:30 a.m. and from 1:15-3:30 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays on the following dates: June 3, 4, 5 and 6; June 10, 11, 12 and 13; June 17, 18, 19 and 20; and June 24, 25, 26 and 27. In July, the dates are July 1, 2 and 3 (no registration on the 4th of July); July 8, 9, 10 and 11; July 15, 16, 17 and 18; and July 22, 23, 24 and 25.

Beginning Monday, July 29, kindergarten registration will continue Monday-Friday at Byrd Avenue School, 1600 Byrd Avenue.

Every kindergarten-eligible child must complete the registration process, even those who have already attended preschool at Denhamtown Elementary.

For the 2013-2014 school year, kindergarten students and first grade students will attend classes at Byrd Avenue Elementary.

Parents are advised to not bring children to registration.
