TURNAGE

N.G. Turnage, 87, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Billdora Senior Care in Tylertown, Miss., where he resided.

He was born Sept. 28, 1925 in Walthall County, Miss., the son of the late Marcus and Lucy Duncan Turnage. He was a self-employed dairyman, truck driver and carpenter. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Thomas and a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Q.D. Turnage and W.O. Turnage; and two sisters, Leola Hayes and Dora Barber.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hilda Hughes Herring Turnage of Tylertown; one son, Jerry (Charline) Herring of Sandy Hook, Miss.; three daughters, Brenda (Bill) West of Collierville, Tenn., Pam (Bob) Fortenberry of Conway, Ark., and Kay (Stanley) Reeves of Tylertown; one brother, Ralph Earl Turnage of Tylertown; one sister, Yvonne Thomas of Franklinton; seven grandchildren, Clint Herring, Jeri Lynn Seal, Kirbi Herring, Elizabeth Ridell, Jodi Fortenberry, Luke Fortenberry and Sissy Law; four great-grandchildren, Presley Seal, Annabella Seal, Gentry Seal and Stella Law; one special nephew, Wayne Hilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in Tylertown. The funeral will be on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Carl Dickens and the Rev. Harold Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow in the Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Stanley Reeves, Bob Fortenberry, Bill West, Pete Barber, Wayne Hilton and Clint Herring.
