BEETS

Lucy Belle Tucker Beets, 80, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Louisiana Heart Hospital. She was born May 19, 1932.

She is survived by one son, Butch (Julie) Beets of Bogalusa; two daughters, Sheila Mendel and Lorie (Duel) Jenkins, both of Bogalusa; two sisters, Agnes Heflin of Jackson, Miss. and Ruby Lancaster of Bentonia, Miss.; her grandchildren, Brandy Beets (Jamie) Young, Bethany Beets (Ryan) Quave, Adam Scott Jenkins, Justine Lee Messina “Jessica,” and Jonathan and Bradley Mendel; and her great-grandchildren, Ashlin Noel Young, Theresa Mendel, Andreana Mendel, Trindon Young and Lily Young.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Odell Beets; her parents, Oscar and Missouri Belle Tucker; and her brothers Oscar, Joe, Bud and Dewitt Tucker.

Visitation was held Saturday, May 11 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for services in the chapel at 11 a.m. Burial followed in Ponemah Cemetery. Rev. Rupert Breland will officiate.
