GARD

Dr. Paul D. Gard Jr. died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. He was a youthful 93 years of age, a devoted husband to Sue Gard, and an avid supporter to Hons, his faithful canine companion.

He was a physician/pathologist who graduated from The University of Louisville Medical School in 1943 and from The University of Kentucky Pathology Residency program in 1968. He was an accomplished artist in the disciplines of painting, ceramics and sculpture. He often said that art was his first love and medicine was a means to support his five children, Peter, Michael, Paul, Stephen and Elizabeth.

He resided most of his life in Bogalusa, but upon the death of his wife, Ann, he moved to Grenada, where he met the love of his life, Sue Callaway. They both enjoyed their beautiful, full marriage for almost 10 years, when another physician requested his soul.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and his stepson, Will White.

He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Gard III.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Grenada Lions Club or the Bogalusa Lions Club.
