Sonya Lavon Thomas, 40, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at her residence in Thomas.

Born May 7, 1972, she was a member of Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church and loved her church family. She enjoyed shopping with her family and friends and traveling. She also loved horseback riding.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Thomas, her daughter, Scarlett Olivia Thomas, and two sons, Dillon Drew Thomas and Jacob Lavon Thomas, all of Thomas; her parents, Henry and Mary Tate of Franklinton; her grandmother, Lexie Lavon Dykes of Franklinton; two sisters, Sharon (Trampas) Cooksey and Sarah (Brandon) Talley, all of Franklinton; three brothers, Adam Bordelon of Amite, James (Cindy) Tate and Justin (Cindy) Tate, all of Franklinton; her mother-in-law, Junie Audrey Thomas of Thomas; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Gwen and Marvin Jones, Tita Taylor and Craig and Peggy Wilkins; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jason Tate; an infant twin sister, Tonya Tate; her grandfather, Earnest Glenis “Buster” Dykes; her father-in-law, Louchildrea “Pete” Thomas; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Bordelon.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 11 at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church from 5-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jerry Cox and the Rev. Aaron Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
