What’s happening at Resthaven

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome some new friends that will be joining us in making the residents busy and happy. They are Cook-Richmond Funeral Home and Project Hope’s Future Leaders. Our youth needs to be involved with senior citizens so they will know some very special information that will help them throughout their lives. The residents are a smart generation, so come visit and spend some time with them. Ask any question and I promise they’ll have a good answer. I’m sure if you’ll talk to members of your church, clubs and organizations they will be willing to be involved in our programs. We always welcome new volunteers. It will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and out. The average American wants to make someone’s day brighter. Remember, love isn’t love until you give it away!
Did I hear you say the weather has given you with cabin fever? I have a wonderful fix for you. Get in your car and come on over we’d love to have you read the Bible to someone because of failing sight or maybe you would like to attend a party with them. We always need a fresh set of eyes for bingo, so get up and get with our program — you’ll be glad you did. If you doubt me, call a member of the Sunshine Club. These girls are the greatest! Rain or shine they are always here. This week they had Madelyn Freeman with them. Her voice must be straight from heaven. Oh, don’t let me forget to invite Charles Magee back — we’ve really missed you.
Music is such a wonderful part of making the residents’ life so much better. They all light up when the first note is played. They all want to dance if they possibly can on foot or in a wheelchair, so if you’re looking for a place to bring your dance group call (985) 732-3909 or call (601) 795-3356 and we’ll be glad to set up an appointment that will work for both of us.
By the way, I hope you planted your potatoes and sweet peas early and we hope you have so many that you feel like sharing. There is nothing like fresh vegetables. Did you know these girls love to shell peas and butterbeans? Yes, they do get their nails done; no matter. They love to get vegetables ready to cook so in this department you might just smell anything cooking at any time. Sometimes it’s cookies other times it is cornbread or maybe sweet potato pies.
Remember those who ask you to pray for them — the shut-ins, our troops, and our friends and neighbors.
Have a great week!
