MARTIN

Grace Vernell Martin, 79, passed away at 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at her home on Highway 25 near the Bogue Chitto River in Franklinton. Born Nov. 9, 1933, she was a faithful and active member of Sunlight Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. She was a worker and later the manager of the Franklinton High School cafeteria for 35 years.

She is survived by a grandson, Ritchie Lane Martin Jr. of Franklinton; a great-granddaughter, Julia Cheyanne Smith, who resided with her; a great-grandson, Christian Lane Martin; a step-granddaughter, Angela Rowell; two foster sons, Mark Hollingsworth and Milton Hollingsworth; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilda and Arnold G. Martin of Franklinton, and Annie Griffin of Hialeah, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Earl Cannon of Kentwood; a sister-in-law, Pat Kinsella of Covington; a special friend, D.W. Bateman of Franklinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Martin; two sons, Ritchie L. Martin Sr. and Rodney J. Martin; and her parents, Wallace Griffin and Gladys Martin Griffin.

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 11 at Crain Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Sammy Smith and Rev. Milton Klisch officiating. Burial followed in the Hezekiah Magee Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Greg Martin, Mitch Martin, Shelton Hano, Joe Sandifer, Terry Cannon and Milton Hollingsworth.
