Robert Lionel Fields

Robert Lionel Fields departed this life on Monday Dec. 24, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 3, 1950 in Bogalusa, the sixth child of the union of Robert Fields and Inez Nathaniel Fields.

He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed music of all types, fishing, hunting and working on automobiles.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cora E. Miller Fields; six children, Robert E. Fields of Tampa, Fla., Aunitra (Willie) Ellis, Rhonda Fields, Robert Lionel Fields Jr., Alton (Charlotte) Fields and April (Doncel) Hatcher, all of Bogalusa; 36 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Minister Betty J. Fields and Alicia F. (Joel) Lewis, both of Bogalusa, Eleanor K. (Steve) Banks of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Velma R. (Blaine) Meredith of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Arcel Fields of Bogalusa, Joe N. Fields of Forth Worth, Texas and Melvin (Shelly) Fields of Bogalusa; one aunt, Louvenia Nathaniel Gage of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Joel Miller of Bogalusa; a sister-in-law, Felicia Smith of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” Fields and Inez Nathaniel Fields; three sisters, Marcel Fields, Barbara Ann Fields and Mary Louise F. Foster; and a son, Jabus N. Fields.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 29 at Greater Salter Chapel AME Church, with funeral services starting at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Bogalusa Cemetery.
