Eva Slocum Gerald Nobles

Eva Slocum Gerald Nobles, 94, a lifelong resident of Pine, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at St. Clare Manor Nursing Home, Baton Rouge. Born July 2, 1918 to James and Mae Freeman Slocum in Washington Parish, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a lifetime member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, James G. (Dee) Gerald; three daughters, Virginia Pace (Jay) Breland, Wilda Faye (Richard) Feddeck and Sherri Lynn (Richard) Hayden; grandchildren and spouses, Darryl D. Pace, Sondra Pace Ervin, Sandra G. (Dr. Paul) Clark, Steven J. Gerald, Erin H. (Dr. Field) Smith and Dr. Meghan Hayden; two stepsons, Earl Ray (Phyllis) Nobles and Stanley (Carol) Nobles, their children and grandchildren.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Lawson Gerald and Benton G. Nobles; brothers Jesse, Devon and James Leo Slocum; and sisters, Bessie Gerald, Viola Wyman and Gladys McKenzie.

She is survived by one brother, Wilbur Slocum, and sisters, Leona Crain and Edna Nobles.

Visitation was held Saturday, Dec. 1 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday at Pine Missionary Baptist Church, with services immediately following. Eld. Brent King officiated. Internment followed at Pine Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Gerald, Andrew Bennett, James Sidney Slocum, Darryl Pace, Brandon Boone and Wendell Crain.
