Washington Parish Board meetings

On Monday, Dec. 3 the Personnel Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. and the Committee meeting will be at 6:30 p.m.

The regular Board meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Masquerade Jewelry sale

LSU Bogalusa Medical Center will hold its Masquerade Jewelry and Accessories sale on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3-4, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday and until 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The items for sale are priced at $5, with all proceeds benefitting the LSU Bogalusa Medical Center Foundation. Payment options include cash and debit or credit cards.

Employment Workshop

A Supported Employment Workshop will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Slidell Memorial Hospital, 1495 Gause Blvd., in the Imaging Center Conference Room.

This workshop will explain supported employment, including components, goals and models. It will also cover hard and soft skills employers want, how to choose a provider and employment resources. Sue Killam, M.Ed., of the LSUHSC Human Development Center, will conduct the workshop.

Store Museum Christmas Festival

The Varnado Store Museum will continue its Christmas Festival today in the Commercial Building at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds. Included will be arts and crafts booths; a professionally decorated Christmas tree to be raffled; visits and photos with Santa; a gift raffle featuring 20 amazing gifts and that many chances to win with one ticket purchase; entertainment by local groups and individuals; and food concessions. The two-day event will kick off the holiday season. Pioneer Christmas will be just across the road and all the cabins on the fairgrounds will be in vintage Christmas dress. Come out and do all your Christmas shopping.

Center Lodge 244 F&AM

Center Lodge 244 F&AM will install its newly elected 2013 officers on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Lodge Hall. Worshipful Master James E. Cockrell II invites all Master Masons of the 14th Masonic District to attend this open meeting. A meal will be served in the dining hall at 6 p.m., with the installation ceremony to follow.

Washington Men’s Club

The Washington Men’s Club will hold its fourth annual Christmas Dinner and Dance on Saturday, Dec. 8, beginning at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Home on Highway 10 in Bogalusa. Dress is semi-formal. Tickets are available from any club member for $25. Honorees are asked to limit speeches to two minutes.

Santa’s coming to the library

Come and get your picture taken with Santa and tell him about your Christmas List.

• Thomas Branch: Tuesday, Dec 11, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Enon Branch: Thursday, Dec 13, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Bogalusa Branch: Tuesday, Dec 18, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Franklinton Branch: Thursday, Dec. 20, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Christmas in the Park

The Christmas in the Park committee has added an additional night to the Christmas in the Park Festival of Lights. Monday, Dec. 10 has been designated as school night in the park according to chairman Col. Robert Miller.

The park will open at 6 p.m. for walking tours only. There will be no drive-throughs allowed on school night.

All school children may enter free while adults will be charged $4 each.

Student performances will begin at 6 p.m. and the park will close at 9 p.m.

Col. Miller encourages all students to take advantage of this opportunity to view the festival of lights and enjoy the live entertainment.

Sistas With Class Social Club

The Sistas With Class Social Club is planning a Christmas Toy Fund, to help 25 families in the community with toys for kids ages 1 through 12. Applications are available at Harvey’s. The application deadline is Dec. 15. Toys will be delivered Dec. 21.

YMCA Senior Exercise Class

The YMCA located at 411 Avenue B in Bogalusa is currently offering a Senior Exercise Class, led by Dixie Gallaspy and Betsey Knight. The classes are held each Tuesday and Friday from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Call 732-3741 for more information.

WP Fire District 7 selling signs

Washington Parish Fire District 7 will be selling reflective address signs to help emergency personnel locate your home for a $20 donation. All proceeds will be used to purchase volunteer firefighters’ equipment to better serve the community.

Fire department personnel will install signs at no charge for anyone who lives in the district. Those outside the district may stop by the central fire station for their address sign. All others may pick up their sign at the central fire station. For more information, call 732-5200.

Victory Alcoholics Anonymous

A meeting of the Alcoholics Anonymous Victory Group will be held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Gospel Tent and Church of Jesus Christ at 500 Wabash St. For more information, call Chuck at 750-7068.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous will be held Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Little Brown House located behind St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Bogalusa. Meetings will also be held at The Last House on the Block, 1918 Avenue F, Bogalusa. Meetings are held Monday through Thursday at noon and Monday through Friday at 7 p.m., and on Saturday at noon and 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
