New Beginning Baptist Church

Revival services begin today at New Beginning Baptist Church, Highway 21 in Bush. Dinner will follow the morning service at 11 a.m. The evening services, Sunday through Wednesday, will be at 6 p.m. Pastor Otho Schilling has invited Bro. Walter Mixon to be the visiting minister. Mt. Bethel Baptist Church

A Pastor Appreciation program will be held today at 2 p.m. for Rev. Johnson Johnson Sr., pastor. The speaker will be Jerome Warren, pastor of Greater Hayes Baptist Church in Hackley.

Plainview Church of Christ Holiness

A special service will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. honoring Eld. Albert Brumfield Jr. and his wife, Hattie Brumfield, for their 21 years of service to the church. The speaker will be Eld. Jarvis Lee, pastor of Bethel Church of Christ Holiness in Franklinton. The public is invited to attend.

Westside Emmanuel Baptist

Cody Wise, award-winning Elvis tribute artist, will be performing Sunday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church. Wise performed recently at the Washington Parish Fair and will be performing many favorite Christmas songs and classic hymns at the church. Everyone is invited to attend.

Bogue Chitto Baptist Church

Revival services, beginning today, will be held through Dec. 2-5 at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church, 41088 Highway 438, Mt. Hermon, with guest evangelist Dr. Stan Statham, director of missions and music director of First Baptist Church in Kentwood, and Butch Reviere, associate pastor and worship leader, also of First Baptist Church in Kentwood.

Today, Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m., worship service at 10:30 a.m. and evening service at 6 p.m. Revival services Monday through Wednesday will begin at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Angie Charge United Methodist

The Angie Charge Winter Musical, under the direction of Rev. Keith Sanders, will be held today at 4 p.m. at Mary’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The youth and children of the Angie Charge — Live Oak, Mary’s Chapel and Wesley Ray United Methodist churches of Angie — will perform. Pastor Terrence August invites the public to attend.

A Christmas Giveaway will be held at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church on Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. until noon, at the church located at 41088 Highway 438 in Mt. Hermon. There will be second-hand free items including clothes, household items, furniture, etc. Refreshments will also be provided

Palestine Baptist Church event

Bro. Frederick Brumfield, pastor, and the members of Palestine Baptist Church, 59369 Palestine Church Road, in the Rio community, invite everyone to attend a Christmas presentation of “Worthy of Worship,” on Saturday, Dec. 15, and Sunday, Dec. 16, at 5 p.m., with fellowship time following.

“Worthy of Worship,” directed by Bro. Calvin Crowe, music leader and associate pastor, looks beyond Bethlehem to Calvary and an empty tomb. The story of Jesus is one of perfect atonement, salvation, deliverance from sin and life everlasting.

True Gospel MBC events

True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, 44189 Highway 38 in Clifton, invites the public to attend the Prince and Princess Program on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. Also, the Christmas Program will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. In addition, the Watch Meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 31 at 10 p.m.

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church

A “Garden of Gethsemane” program, conducted by Deacon Ogle, will be held every other Wednesday at 6 p.m., giving members an opportunity to share their spiritual journeys and to share on any topic, whether religious or life in general.

A “Women’s Recovery Weekend,” sponsored by the Addictions Recovery Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana, will be held Jan. 11-13, with participation open to the public. The program will focus on the Twelve Steps and Christian spirituality.

ESM United Methodist Church

Today is Bogalusa Food Bank Sunday at ESM. Due to the economy and other factors, the Food Bank has experienced a big growth in the number of families needing help. Also, a grant that it has been receiving has been cut considerably and another one may not be received at all. With the rise in food prices, members are asked to please remember the Food Bank by donating non-perishable food items or monetary gifts.

Youth, grades 6-12, will meet with Rev. Dolph at 5:30 p.m. in the Youth Room of the Family Life Center.

Children ages 3 through 7 are invited for after-school snacks and fun activities in the Fellowship Hall with Mrs. Tammy on Monday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The children are collecting hats, gloves, and scarves to decorate the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall. On Dec. 17, they will go to Resthaven Living Center to give these items to the residents. Items may be brought to the Fellowship Hall or to the church office.

Tuesday, Dec. 4, Morning Call will be held at 9 a.m. On Tuesday, Lunch Bunch will meet at YoYo’s on Superior Avenue. Please contact Patricia Branch to make reservations.

Led by Rev. Dolph, ESM’s Advent Study, “Expect the Unexpected,” will continue on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. A light meal (donations accepted) will follow the 5:30 p.m. session. Reservations for the meal are necessary and may be made on the church attendance pad, by calling the church office, or by signing up on Facebook (www.facebook,com/ESMUMC).

Poinsettias to be placed on the altar from Dec.16 through Christmas Eve in honor of or in memory of a friend or loved one may be ordered for $8 each by or before Dec. 5. The order form may be placed in the offering plate at church or taken to the church office.

Annunciation Catholic Church

The Marian Servants of the Precious Blood of Jesus meet every 4th Saturday at 8:15 a.m. in Dobyns Center. All are welcome.

The Knights of Columbus will host a Youth Mass on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. for Annunciation church members in grades 7-12. Those members are asked to bring one friend to Mass with them. Immediately following the Mass, the Knights will have a luncheon for our youth and their friends in Dobyns Center. Annunciation parishioners in grades 7-12 are asked to register with Greg Genco at 732-4863 or Val Haaga at 732-4355. Deadline to register is Dec. 3. Parishioners are asked to encourage their youth to attend.

The Italian-American Cultural Society is currently conducting a raffle to raise funds to finance its annual St. Joseph’s Altar scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16. The grand prize is $500, and tickets are only $1. The drawing will be held on Dec. 17. If you would like to buy a ticket, contact any member of the Italian-American Club.

Tuesdays are “Resthaven Day” for a group of parishioners who spend an hour from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. visiting the residents there and entertaining them putting together small, simple crafts. If you would like to be a part of this, please call Carolyn Seal at 516-0855.

Also on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. parishioners study the Catechism of the Catholic Church with Sandy Martin. Everyone is welcome. The sessions are held in Dobyns Center.

Annunciation Catholic School’s Spring Gala/Auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 23. A planning meeting was held recently at the school, and this year, Patrick Ezell is chairperson. Anyone having items they are willing to donate may call the school and talk with Veda Matthews.

The Spanish Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 5 p.m., with confession at 4:30 p.m.

Union Avenue Baptist Church

Union Avenue Baptist Church is in the process of building a new worship facility at 20099 Caroline Drive in Bogalusa. Phase One is the construction of the fellowship hall, which will be used as the worship facility until Phase Two has been completed. Within the Worship Center will be a memorial plaque for gifts given in memory of loved ones.
