Lela Mae Foster Phelps

Lela Mae Foster Phelps, 89, a resident of Thomas died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at 1:16 a.m. at her home.

She was born Sept. 23, 1923 in Bassfield, Miss. and attended Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Kathleen Phelps of Thomas; two grandchildren and spouses, Raymond and Geneen Phelps and Robyn and Bobby Story, all of Thomas; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Phelps, Dusty Phelps, Jaden Story, Jessieuna Story, Christian Story, Bethany Story, McKaylin Story and McKaya Story; a sister, Lois Gilbert of Eureka, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, B.J. and Mary Foster of Prentiss, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch I. Phelps; parents, John M. Foster and Mary Robins Foster; three sisters, Aline Stafford, Mildred Dixon and Carolyn Kraft; brothers, Jessie Foster and John Calvin Foster; and an infant brother, Austin Foster.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will continue Wednesday at 8 a.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Jerry Cox and Rev. Aaron Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Nobles Cemetery.
