The LaGrange Gators, seeded No. 14, put an old fashioned whooping on the visiting No. 19 seeded Franklinton Demons 33-6 in the bi-district round of the 4A playoffs.

Gator coach Jules Sullen was only surprised twice-once at the final score and a second time when he was doused with cold water by his players with only minutes left in the game.

“We thought we could come out here and establish the run,” said Sullen. “That is our strength right now.”

With the win, LaGrange goes on the road this week to take on No. 30 seeded St. Martinville who upset No. 3 seeded Lutcher 30-29.

The Gators totally dominated Franklinton amassing 359 rushing yards and 77 in the air for 436 total yards.

The Gator defense was just as good limiting the Demons to 58 yards on the ground and 93 via the air for only 151 total yards.

Demon quarterback Austin Armand was 5-of-19 for 93 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 24 yards on seven carries. Renaz Wilson contributed the remaining 34 yards on five carries.

The leading receiver for Franklinton was Kendrick Brumfield who had two catches for 52 yards and one touchdown.

Gator quarterback Nicholas Pitre had a big night. He was 5-of-11 in the air for 77 yards and rushed for 72 yards on seven carries and one touchdown.

On the ground Tyler Guillory led the way with 25 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown. Robert Leday was right behind contributing 74 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. Rounding out the ground attack was Freddie Wilson with seven runs for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

The leading receiver for the Gators was Williams with three catches for 43 yards.

Williams opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 19-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0 after the Alfred Nunez point after.

LaGrange got on the board again in the second quarter on a 3-yard Leday run to make it 14-0 at the half.

Franklinton got their only points of the night in the third quarter when Brumfield hauled in a 44-yard touchdown pass from Armand to narrow the Gator lead to 14-6 after the PAT failed.

But it was all Gators from then on.

Pitre scored on a 27-yard run to answer the Demon score and go up 21-6.

Leday also scored in the third quarter on a 6-yard run to make it 27-6.

The final score of the game came in the fourth quarter when Guillory took it in from 1-yard out giving the Gators a winning margin of 33-6.
