R.B. Bearden

R.B. Bearden, 69, a resident of Pine born Feb. 23, 1943, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at 4:35 p.m. at Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of South Carolina and had lived in Washington Parish for more than 30 years. He attended Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired painter. He enjoyed fishing and loved his homemade cornbread and buttermilk.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lee Roddy Bearden of Franklinton; four children and spouses, Richard and Michelle Bearden of Marrero, Donna Taylor of Amite, Melissa Bearden of Abbeville and Paula and Terry Mosley of Gonzales; 10 stepchildren and spouses, Janet and Ace Sapia of Cottonport, Jimmy Hotard of Pine, Paula and Kenny Sapia of Folsom, Arnold and Vicki Hotard of Mississippi, Sharon and Dale Rome of Marrero, Mary and Darryl Gulsby of Franklinton, Steven Hotard of Harvey, David and Tammy Hotard of Pine, Michelle and Mo Sapia of Franklinton and Nancy Falcon of Mississippi; seven grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and 17 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Calvin Bearden of Griffin, Ga.; and a sister, Betty Bender of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Bearden Sr. and Pauline Dobson Bearden; two brothers, Lloyd Bearden Jr. and Jimmy Mac Bearden; and step-grandchildren, Brandon Joseph Rome and Nicole Hotard.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 10 at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m., with Eld. Billy Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
