Walter Stogner

Walter Stogner, 85, a resident of Thomas born Jan. 13, 1927, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Riverside Medical Center.

He enjoyed riding and visiting with family and friends and drinking coffee. He was a member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Renee’ and Randy Spears of Thomas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Leslie Scott and Kelly Stogner of Thomas and Walter Fleet Stogner of Port Allen; a stepson, Gary Dale Lewis of Thomas; seven grandchildren and spouses, Rachel and J W Sumrall, Kelly and Justin Jones, Sara Spears, Adrian Stogner, Lauren Rivet, Tyler Scott Stogner and Kimberly Ann Stogner; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Sumrall, Kody Sumrall, Drake Sumrall, Luke Sumrall, Kaylee Jones, Kolton Jones, Adrian Christopher Stogner and McKinley Rivet; and a sister, Faye and Dorman Thomas of Thomas.

He was preceded in death by Leslie David and Mollie Thomas Stogner; two sisters, Nadine Stogner Creel and Ludy Merle Flint; and a brother, Donald Ray Stogner.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 9 at Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will resume Saturday at 9 a.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Denny Brumfield and Bro. Billy Reyer officiating. Burial will follow at Crain’s Creek Church Cemetery.
