A Bogalusa man wants to start a semi-pro football team and envisions a league spread across the area.

Jamal Mosely, a former Bogalusa High School football player, said the Washington Warriors would be based in Bogalusa. He said he has already made inquiries about field rental, priced uniforms and pads and gotten insurance quotes, and he’s crunched attendance numbers from parish high school football games to determine how much money a semi-pro football game could raise.

“I was playing flag football with some guys at the Y and a lot of them said they’d like to get back into the game,” he said, explaining how the idea of forming a semi-pro team came about. “A lot of guys come out just to play flag football, and many have told me they want to play tackle.”

Mosely said a tryout/workout session will be held Nov. 29 from 3-7 p.m. at the YMCA.
