All schools in Washington Parish, pubic and private, including Bogalusa City Schools, will be closed through the end of the week, parish Director of Emergency Preparedness Tommy Thiebaud said a few moments ago.

The principals and custodians for Washington Parish schools are asked to report to their schools Friday.

There is no word on the status of the prep football games scheduled this weekend.

As of 10 a.m., more than 2,500 Washington-St. Tammany Electric Co-Op customers were without power. Also, nearly 100 Entergy customers are also without power.

Thiebaud is urging residents to stay at home until the storm passes. He said the winds are just beginning to increase in speed and intensity, and he expects the stronger winds to be “around for a while.”

Several small limbs and smaller trees have fallen but only about eight to 10 larger trees, Thiebaud said.

There have been no reports of injuries in the parish.
