Bowling Green, Ben’s Ford set for season openers

The football regular season is here for area Mississippi Association of Independent Schools. Season openers are scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight for Bowling Green School and Ben’s Ford Christian School.
Carmon Moore returns for his second season at the helm of the Buccaneer program and Tommy Pittman takes over the Eagles in his first year as head coach.
Bowling Green travels to Parklane Academy in McComb, Miss. and Ben’s Ford travels to Sacred Heart in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Bowling Green was 4-6 last season and 1-3 in District 6-2A play in Moore’s first season. The Buccaneers fell to Parklane 54-24 last season in the season opener.
Ben’s Ford was 1-8 last season and 0-5 in District 4-1A under first-year coach Cary Travis. The Eagles defeated Sacred Heart 26-22 last season.
The Buccaneers defeated Central Private 13-0 in jamboree play last week at Silliman Institute in Clinton. Bowling Green is led by Russ Smith, Jake Williams, Drew Varnado, Stewart Slade, Colby Knight, James Lavigne, Coleman Knight, Andy Cooper, Sebastion Milton, Grant Ball, Alex Mizell and Conner McCain.
The Eagles played to a 6-6 tie with Baton Rouge Home School at Eagle Field in a varsity/junior varsity jamboree. They are led by Cole Edwards, Cody Stewart, Tyler Wascom, Destin Pittman, Josh Crain, Aarron Taylor, Kaylin Stewart, Tyler Milner and Will Owens.
