Charles Albert Keaton

Charles Albert Keaton, 87, born Oct. 6, 1924 in Bogalusa, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 at his home.

A longtime resident of Bogalusa, he was a member and deacon of Memorial Baptist Church of Bogalusa. He was retired from the Crown-Zellerbach corporation, after 42 years of employment. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II. He was also a longtime scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Verna Lee Keaton of Bogalusa; his four children, Charles P. (Marianne) Keaton of Milam, Texas, Russell W. (Beth) Keaton of Bogalusa, Earl B. Keaton (Cuba Gwen) of Pine Bluff, Ark., A. Royce (Tina) Keaton of Bogalusa; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bienville C. Keaton; his mother, Terah A. Applewhite Keaton; and six brothers and seven sisters.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home and will continue Wednesday at the funeral home, from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Phil, Kyle, Chris, Adam, Jason, James, John and Alex Keaton.
