Dorothy Mae Pounds

Dorothy Mae Pounds, a member of Lee’s Creek Baptist Church born in Foxworth, Miss. on May 10, 1926, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at her residence in Bogalusa.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Phillip) Pfeffer of Canton, Texas, Pat Jordan of Bogalusa and Darlene (Kendall) Miley of Angie; five sons, Charles Pounds, Duane Pounds, Sidney Pounds and David Pounds, all of Bogalusa, and William (Cecilia) Pounds Jr. of Franklinton; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Pounds of Bogalusa; 21 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Race” Pounds; a son, James Pounds; a great-grandson, Christopher Jenkins; her parents, Claude King and Nancy Laird King; a sister, Inez Martinez; and a brother, Herbert King.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 19 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday in the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Tommy Morgan and Bro. Doyle Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The active pallbearers will be Chris Pounds, Jody Pounds, Craig Pounds, Kevin Pounds, John Moody and Acie Breland, and the honorary pallbearers will be Keith Pounds and Billy Pounds.
