Helen Buckley-Haynes, also known as “Doll Baby,” 80, a resident of Chicago, Ill. born Aug. 10, 1931 in Bogalusa, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Chicago.

She was a member of Harris Temple COGIC where her childhood schoolmate, also of Bogalusa, Elder Ezekiel Harris, is the pastor. She was well known for her famous Louisiana coffee, bread pudding and seafood gumbo. She had a very special bond with her sister, Audrey Faye Price. She enjoyed reminiscing old memories, telling stories and creating new ones with her loved ones.

She is survived by her son, Morris Haynes, and daughter, Yolanda Haynes, both of Chicago; granddaughter, Cara J. Walker of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Robert Buckley Jr. and Elbert Buckley Sr., both of Bogalusa, and Freddie Buckley Sr. of Chicago; three sisters, Audrey Faye Price and Beverly Anderson, both of Chicago, and Laura Spurling of San Diego, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Buckley Sr. and Velma Buckley.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 6 at Liberty Temple COGIC, 5230 S. Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60609, from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., and the funeral service will be held Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until noon, with Elder Steven Manns Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Worth Township, Ill.
