Bogalusa High School recently received a $4,000 grant from bestselling author James Patterson, to support the BHS library.

Scholastic Reading Club will match each dollar of Patterson’s donation with “bonus points,” which teachers can use to acquire books and other materials for their classrooms. BHS was selected from more than 28,000 applications for funding grants.

“I am thrilled to receive this grant on behalf of the students at BHS,” BHS librarian Amy Adams said. “Students have been filling out a wish list of books they would like the library to add to its collection. I also have been able to identify areas of need and have added these to the list of books to be ordered.

“It is such an honor to be chosen by Mr. Patterson in his endeavor to help school libraries continue to thrive.”

Patterson and Scholastic Reading Club announced in March that Patterson would donate $1.5 million to save school libraries nationwide, with grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Earlier this week, he announced he would increase the total donation to $1.75 million. Patterson is personally donating all funds.
