The City of Bogalusa was recently awarded a Community Water and Enrichment Fund Grant for water line repair.

The city and Washington Parish each received $25,000. Since the parish didn’t own the water lines stated in the parish’s grant, Parish President Richard Thomas gave Bogalusa the parish’s $25,000 grant as well.

“This project will be used under the Columbia Street bridge,” Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette said. “We have 10-inch, 18-inch and 20-inch lines that are exposed and we’re going to relocate those lines under the bridge so they won’t be exposed and bring them up to code.

“We were awarded this grant last year and it was used on the Poplas Street bridge.”

Perrette said she was thankful for the funds.

“Thanks to Parish President Richard Thomas, these funds will be used to make improvement to water mains under the Bogue Lusa Creek at Columbia Street bridge,” she said.
