Bucs fall to ACCS

Bowling Green suffered its first loss of the season, a 27-7 defeat to Adams County Christian School at home Friday night.

The Buccaneers went down 21-0 with 10:17 left in the first half and outscored ACCS after that, 7-6.

Bowling Green coach David Currier said his defense was outstanding.

“We wore them down and played physical all game,” Currier said. “They broke a couple of big plays early on.”

Adams had 12 first downs and 258 yards rushing for the game. Currier said most of that came in the first half.

ACCS led 21-0 at halftime. Bowling Green trimmed it to 21-7 in the third quarter when

Cameron Cowart scored on a 48-yard run. Hayden Thompson hit the extra point.
Defensively, Thompson made 13 tackles.

Hunter Mulkey had 16 tackles and an interception. Matt Pierce had 16 tackles. Brandon McElveen posted nine tackles, a sack, and recovered a fumble. Chris Waksom finished with five tackles and a sack.

The final score came with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter.

The loss put Bowling Green’s record at 2-1 on the season. The Buccaneers are back in action Friday, Sept. 11 at home against Amite School Center.
