An elderly Bogalusa man was apparently overcome by the heat while working in his yard and died.

The body of David George Barnard, 70, of 724 Tampa St., was discovered sometime Sunday in his yard.

“The cause of death is pending. It looks like he was working in the backyard and got overheated,” Washington Parish Assistant Coroner Daniel Whittington said.

“He couldn’t make it back into the house,” he added.

Whittington said foul play was not suspected.

Barnard’s family includes a daughter in Covington.
